Effective HR helps your school meet its needs by managing your most valuable assetyour employees. HR supports your school by providing a framework of expectations, support and procedures for employees and managers to improve employee engagement and productivity.

HR policies provide schools with the framework for managing people. They usually set out the employers approach, rules and expectations, and the steps to be followed by employees and employers. Written Policies and Procedures ensure legal compliance, fairness and equality. Some policies are required by employment and education law, and others are recommended as best practice.

You can do many things around wellbeing support for teachers, from having effective wellbeing policies such as health, leave of absence and flexible working to ensuring effective communication and management of workloads and the provision of training for staff and managers.

The HR function helps a school to deliver its objectives. Guiding managers to recruit the right people with the right skills and supporting effective development, performance, attendance and conduct, HR support helps to avoid and manage problems effectively and efficiently.   These functions are all vital in improving the overall effectiveness of individuals to support and deliver for pupils.
