Success Story: The Sittingbourne School Elevates Assessment and Progress Tracking with Sisra Analytics
In March 2023, almost two years after the implementation, the school earned a 'Good' Ofsted inspection report. The report highlighted the school's effective use of various assessment methods and their ability to adapt teaching to address gaps in pupils' knowledge, partly attributed to the use of Sisra Analytics.

Implementing Sisra Analytics: A Game Changer
Nick Smith, the headteacher of The Sittingbourne School in Kent, has been a proponent of Sisra Analytics since his time as a deputy headteacher at a secondary school in London. Upon joining The Sittingbourne School, Nick and his SLT worked to ensure all leaders and teachers fully embraced Sisra Analytics maximising its impact across key stages, making it the seventh institution within Swale Academies Trust to use this game-changing tool.
In March 2023, almost two years after the implementation, the school earned a ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection report. The report highlighted the school’s effective use of various assessment methods and their ability to adapt teaching to address gaps in pupils’ knowledge, partly attributed to the use of Sisra Analytics.
Assessment is used precisely across a number of subject areas, where leaders carefully review the gaps in pupils’ knowledge so that future teaching can be more specifically targeted to help fill these gaps.

Enhancing Assessment Tracking and Analytics
Before implementing Sisra Analytics, the school relied on an alternative assessment tracking and analytics system. Sisra Analytics provided a more streamlined and user friendly system offering easy data breakdowns by various demographics, accessible with just a few clicks.
Nick praised the system, stating:
“What I loved about Sisra is that whether you’re a classroom teacher, subject leader, or an SLT member, you can click to filter the different demographics and groups of students. Within seconds you’ve got data broken down by ethnicity, gender, free school meals or whatever you need.”
Empowering Teachers and Leaders
Sisra Analytics offers transparent access to comparative data points to all staff. This feature has allowed all teachers to observe and evaluate their students’ performance about their peers. Nick explains:
“I like the simplicity of the charts and graphs in Sisra Analytics; they clearly and concisely summarise our student progress data,”
“What I like about Sisra is that every teacher has access to it; they can look and compare how their child is doing in their class compared to another class.”
Closing the Gap with SPI
Nick is particularly impressed with the Student Progress Index (SPI) feature, which provides a Progress 8 score for all subjects, allowing them to assess progress beyond STEM subjects. The SPI feature has enabled the school to progress significantly at Key Stage 4.
“Sisra Analytics allows us to carry out a gap analysis between our students and the students at all the other Sisra schools…it allows us to break down the gaps by subject and class and begin to look at strategies to address these gaps.”
Advancing Towards a Brighter Future
While The Sittingbourne School continues to learn and discover more about Sisra Analytics, it has already proven its worth by enabling staff to identify specific progress information and enhance their teaching accordingly.
Nick concluded:
“We’ve got 300 students coming into year seven next academic year. From the first time we enter data we will be able to make comparisons to their peers in other SISRA schools through the SPI function. We don’t have to wait for a Progress Eight figure at the end of year 11 to find out how they are doing as part of the national picture.”
