Occupational Health Referrals for Schools

Friday, September 29, 2023

10:00 AM (BST)
Presented by Juniper Education

Did you know?

Improper handling of absences and Occupational Health (OH) referrals can lead to potential discrimination claims worth up to £250,000.

To safeguard your school against these risks, school and trust leaders need to understand occupational health – specifically, how to make good referrals.

Join us on Friday, 29th September, at 10 AM for a one-off session on occupational health referrals. Don't miss out.

In a 2019 survey by the National Education Union (NEU), 81% of teachers reported that their mental health was adversely affected by their demanding workload and stress. Absences in schools are on the rise, yet many education leaders still don't know how to navigate occupational health referrals.

Poor handling of absences and occupational health referrals can lead to serious consequences, like discrimination claims, increased absences, safeguarding issues, and more negative impacts on your school staff and pupils.

This webinar is designed for headteachers, HR Managers, CEOs, school business managers, and anyone in a leadership role at a school, academy, or MAT. Education leaders will be equipped with an understanding of the OH referral process and the competency to manage employee health considerations effectively.

Gain the tools and information you need to support your staff's well-being with OH referrals. You will learn:

  • How to make a good referral
  • What an OH report looks like
  • What to do with the report once received
  • How to leverage the report insights to achieve positive outcomes for your school and employees
  • What to do when challenges arise (e.g. employee refuses to attend OH appointment)

The session will include a Q&A, so you will have an opportunity to get your questions answered by an OH expert.

All attendees will also get access to an EXCLUSIVE resource that will help you lead your employees' absence review meetings with confidence.
