What can we give to all our children this Christmas?
The answer is that we have already given so much to our children during the year through the numerous new experiences and opportunities gained from educational visits.
Why? The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) explains:
‘Learning outside the classroom is about raising young people’s achievement through an organised, powerful approach to learning in which direct experience is of prime importance.
This is not only about what we learn, but most importantly, how and where we learn. It is about improving young people’s understanding, skills, values, personal and social development and can act as a vehicle to develop young people’s capacity and motivation to learn.’

The best present we can give children is the commitment to continue next year to provide high quality outdoor learning, striving to give children the life skills, and all the associated outcomes they benefit from by participating on these educational visits.
We have a commitment to you to reduce the bureaucracy which stifles some teachers to engage in LOtC. New features in EVOLVE will assist you and them in the planning, notification and approval process, which is suitable, sufficient, proportionate and applies a common sense approach in line will latest DfE / OEAP guidance.
